Wedding Invitation Postage
If you´re on a strict budget, be sure to consider postage costs when choosing your wedding invitations. Some larger styles of invitations and announcements or more unusual shape styles have to be mailed using higher postage.
Foregoing Flowers
If you´re strapped for cash, try cutting out all except the most important flowers and using candles instead. They cost less and give weddings an incredibly romantic atmosphere.
Just the Way You Are
Don't make big changes such as getting a perm, coloring your hair, etc. right before your wedding. Have these treatments done well in advance in case something needs to be fixed in time for the wedding.
Don't Kiss Off
You can take a few extra steps to make regular lipstick more longwearing. Before applying lip color, smooth a bit of foundation over your lips---this will make your lipstick go on more evenly as well as help it stay on longer. Outline your lips with a lipliner, then fill in lips with the liner as well. Using a lip brush, apply one coat of lip color; blot with a tissue. Apply a second coat of lip color. If you'd like, you can top your lipstick with a product such as English Idea's LipLast, which seals in lipcolor and sets it for longer wear.
Outdoor Beauty
Getting married outdoors under the sun? Don´t forget to apply the sunscreen before you put on your makeup---a burnt bride doesn´t look good!
Good from the Get-Go. Decide up-front, from the *very* beginning, who is going to pay for what. Make a huge master list of everything you´ll need to buy/rent and mark off which things you´re paying for, what your parents are paying for, what the groom´s family is buying, etc. There will also be things that pop up unexpectedly---decide *now* who is willing to pay for extras. It´s not always a fun task, but knowing early on who´s paying for what can eliminate uncomfortable scenes and nasty arguments later.
Don't lose sleep over raised eyebrows
Within reason – and budgetary constraints – have the wedding you want. Say you'd like to have someone make balloon hats, but you're worried Aunt Myrtle won't approve. Ten years from now, she'll barely remember that she attended, but you may still be bummed about your balloon-less wedding.
Plot a wedding-day schedule
Figure out an approximate time when you'd like to cut the cake, have the first dance, toss the bouquet, and so on. Write everything down, and ask your point person to keep things on schedule. It's also helpful to print a timeline for your vendors and bridal party so your maid of honor doesn't show up half an hour into the pre-ceremony photos.
Don't forget the photo list
Your photographer isn't psychic. Make a note of the photos you can't live without – you, Grandma, and Mom; a portrait with each of your groomsmen – and go over your list with the photographer. Give the best man a copy, so he can help coordinate. There's nothing worse than getting your photos back and realizing that the only one you really wanted is missing
